Thank you to all who helped make the 2nd Generous Helpings a success. Special thanks to our presenting sponsor Murray & Murray and Goodman Beverage Co. and Lorain County Metroparks for allowing us to host the event at Schoepfle Garden.
The 2nd annual Generous Helpings: A Culinary Benefit was held Sunday June 24, 2007 from 6PM until 9PM at Schoepfle Garden in Birmingham. The event celebrated Second Harvest's 25th anniversary and featured chefs competing using Second Harvest's "Super Six". Paired with the chefs creations was a selection of complimenting ales from Great Lakes Brewing Co., music and a silent auction. Tram rides were offered through the garden courtesy of the Metroparks.
As a twist on the Iron Chef Competitions, Generous Helpings features chefs using all of their creative skills to create culinary masterpieces. The chefs must use one of the "Super Six" - the six items most in demand at Second Harvest - tuna fish, cereal, beef stew, canned vegetables, soup and peanut butter. Guests will vote in three categories: Best Tasting, Most Original and Best Use of a "Super Six" ingredient.
Schoepfle Garden is a truly unique park in the Lorain County Metro Parks system. Made up of 70
acres of botanical gardens and natural woodland, Schoepfle Garden is bordered on one side by
the Vermilion River. The garden features collections of rhododendrons,
roses, cannas, hostas, various shade plants, along with many varieties
of shrubs, topiaries and trees. It will be a beautiful setting for the 2007 Generous Helpings.
