Program and Education Coordinator (Full - Time)
Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio is seeking a full-time Program and Education Coordinator. Position is a leadership role in implementing an educational and training program for member agency representatives and positively impacting the nutritional content of food received by their clients, assists in ensuring agency compliance to standards; and provides support to the Agency Relations Department as requested.

Specific Responsibilities:
Agency Education, Training and Enrichment
Coordinate and provide education and training opportunities for member agencies and their personnel. Training may be conducted in person, by webinar or utilizing other resources and professionals in the community through Agency University. Engage community professionals to expand training opportunities offered to member agencies, coordinate and schedule through Agency University.
- Food Safety Training: provide ongoing onsite (bi-monthly) trainings to new member agency personnel and/or new personnel at existing member agencies
- Civil Rights Training: provide (bi-monthly) trainings to new member agency personnel and/or new personnel at existing member agencies
- Nutrition Education Training: provide on-going training and educational activities at Second Harvest with member agency staff on nutrition and utilizing fresh produce. Educate partner hot meal and Kids Cafe programs on the benefits of vegetables and produce and how to prepare and integrate vegetables and produce into their meal programs. Teach children about proper nutrition and experimenting with vegetables and produce. Train and educate representatives from partner food pantry programs on the benefits of vegetables and produce, how to prepare and then educate their clients through the Farmers Market Program distributions on utilizing produce that is unfamiliar.
- Farmer’s Market Training: provide (annual) training to member agencies involved in the Farmers Market program. Utilize agency representatives and volunteers to conduct demonstrations of produce in conjunction with Farmers Market distributions.
Programming
- Serve as a point person for Programs. Child Nutrition Programs: Backpack and Kids Cafe Programs; Farmers Market and Mobile Pantry. Interact with the site program coordinators to ensure compliance with the program agreement and submission of required statistics and site information to comply with reporting requirements for Feeding America, various grant funders and other constituents as necessary. Investigate and troubleshoot issues that may arise with the ongoing operation of the programs.
- Organize Farmer’s Market produce distributions, communicating with member agencies, the Food Resource Coordinator, Farmer’s Market Intern and pertinent warehouse staff. Communicate the availability of produce to member agencies.
- Maintain documentation of program development and submit monthly progress reports.
- Assist Volunteer Relations Coordinator with recruiting a pool of volunteers to work with both hot meal and food pantry programs to help with preparation of produce and to demonstrate at Farmers Markets.
Agency Compliance and Monitoring
- Not a primary function, but as required: conduct on-site monitoring visits to existing member agencies in accordance with the annual monitoring plan. Reviews sites for compliance to member agency standards. Responsible for preparing written reports of findings during monitoring visit, ensuring all agency and program information is current and accurate. Any findings will be discussed with the Agency Relations Manager for appropriate follow up and corrective action.
- Responsible for bringing agency concerns and issues to the attention of appropriate Second Harvest staff and ensuring a prompt response and resolution for the member agency.
General Responsibilities:
- Provide support for the Agency Relations Manager as requested: answering phone calls, sending out general correspondence, entering data into Ceres and on Second Harvest website, Research, write or edit fact sheets and other communications and publications as appropriate and assist agencies with concerns, etc.
- Uphold the values and mission of Second Harvest at all times.
- Display courtesy and respect at all times to Second Harvest employees, volunteers, board members, donors, member agencies and the general public.
- Maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to Second Harvest and the network of member agencies.
Qualifications:
- Experience in customer service, non-profit or other related field
- Experience with program planning, management and evaluation
- Self-motivated and self-directed with an attention to detail
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Highly developed oral, written and computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Ability to work in partnership with other staff
- Valid Driver’s License
Education /Training:
- Assoociate’s Degree or Equivalent Experience
- Certification in Food Safety
Agency Relations Assistant (Part - Time)
Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio is seeking a part-time Agency Relations Assistant. Position provides support to the Agency Relations Manager in the coordination of the relationship between the Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio and our network of member agencies providing food and other resources for those at-risk for hunger in our service area.

Responsible for preparing written reports of findings during monitoring visit, ensuring all agency and program information is current and accurate. - Assist in ensuring compliance of member agencies with the standards of America’s Second Harvest, Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio and, if applicable, the Food Programs Manual from the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services, with direction from Agency Relations Manager.
- Mail or email a copy of the monitoring form and agreements to the member agency with a letter stating the findings of the site visit, and file current documents upon completion of the monitoring visit.
- Update agency and program records in Navision/Ceres data base and the Second Harvest website.
- Maintain Agency Relations files, including agency files and statistics files. Create new files when necessary and ensure accuracy of files.
- Enter member agency monthly statistics reports into Access data base. Telephone or correspond via email with member agencies regarding statistics reports when applicable. Notate agencies on hold in Navision/Ceres data base when necessary.
- Review new member agency applications as received. Communicate with agency to obtain complete documentation if not submitted in original packet and submit to Agency Relations Manager for further processing.
- Engage in both oral and written communication with member agencies regarding various topics at the direction of the Agency Relations Manager. Create or generate correspondence and other informational materials.
General Responsibilities:
