Volunteers play an essential role in the operations of Second Harvest. Without the support of volunteers, non-profit operations across the country couldn't function.
In FY2011/12, over 1500 volunteers donated 11,400 volunteer hours.
It's an important way for those more fortunate to give back to their community for the benefit of all involved. Second Harvest has many opportunities for both groups and individuals.
Our major ongoing group volunteer responsibility is product repack of food donations and items received from local manufacturers and retailers. These food items are checked for quality and separated to be distributed to member agencies where they can do the most good.
Volunteers are also needed to help a variety of other projects including administrative duties, warehouse help, special projects, speakers bureau and events.
