Second Harvest presented a grant for $11,250 to Nehemiah Partners in Sandusky to serve children at their Kids Cafe evening meal program for a year and to help with the purchase of much-needed equiment.
Sandusky City Manager, Eric Wobser, spoke about the need for places in Sandusky like the Nehemiah Center where kids can go after school to get a nutritious meal and be with other kids in a safe and caring environment.
Childhood hunger statistics cover children birth to eighteen years of age. But teenagers and their feelings about it are getting lost in the mix. Many are hungry but are private, withdrawn, confused and even embarrassed.
There are 115 partner charities who rely on Second Harvest for food, including delivery. How in the world do we make it all happen? Sometimes the gem is not how something works but rather WHO makes it work. That would be our drivers, our Ambassadors on the Road.
